Kerala Green Gram Dinner recipe — authentic Kerala Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • Whole green gram (Cherupayar)
  • Shallots (sliced)
  • Garlic (crushed)
  • Dried red chilies
  • Curry leaves
  • Coconut oil
  • Turmeric powder
  • Grated coconut (optional)
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. 1Cook whole green gram until tender but not mushy; drain excess water.
  2. 2Heat coconut oil in a pan; temper dried red chilies and curry leaves.
  3. 3Add sliced shallots and crushed garlic; sauté until golden.
  4. 4Add turmeric powder and cooked green gram; mix well.
  5. 5If desired, add grated coconut and stir-fry for a few minutes.
  6. 6Season with salt and continue to stir-fry until slightly dry. Serve hot.
