Idiyappam recipe — authentic Kerala Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • Roasted rice flour
  • Boiling water
  • Salt
  • Coconut oil (for greasing)
  • Fresh grated coconut (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Mix rice flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. 2Gradually add boiling water, stirring with a spoon.
  3. 3Knead into a smooth, soft dough once cool enough.
  4. 4Fill an idiyappam press with dough.
  5. 5Press strands onto greased idli plates or banana leaves, optionally layering coconut.
  6. 6Steam for 8-10 minutes until cooked.
  7. 7Serve hot.
