Ingredients

  • Whole green gram (moong dal)
  • Grated coconut paste (with garlic, green chilies, turmeric)
  • Onion
  • Curry leaves
  • Coconut oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Dried red chilies
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. 1Cook whole green gram until tender.
  2. 2Grind grated coconut with garlic, green chilies, and turmeric to a fine paste.
  3. 3Add this coconut paste and chopped onion to the cooked green gram.
  4. 4Simmer for 5-7 minutes, adjusting consistency with water.
  5. 5Heat coconut oil; temper mustard seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves.
  6. 6Pour tempering over the curry.
  7. 7Season with salt and mix well. Serve hot.
