Kerala Fish Curry Rice recipe — authentic Kerala Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • Fish (Kingfish/Sardine)
  • Kudampuli (gamboge)
  • Grated coconut
  • Ginger-garlic paste
  • Shallots
  • Curry leaves
  • Coconut oil
  • Kerala chili powder
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. 1Soak kudampuli in warm water.
  2. 2Sauté shallots, ginger-garlic paste, and curry leaves in coconut oil.
  3. 3Add chili and turmeric powders; cook briefly until fragrant.
  4. 4Add soaked kudampuli with its water, some fresh water, and salt; bring to a boil.
  5. 5Gently add fish pieces; simmer on low heat until fish is cooked through and gravy thickens.
  6. 6Serve hot with steamed rice.
