Zunka recipe — authentic Maharashtra Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander

Instructions

  1. 1Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chillies.
  2. 2Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add turmeric powder.
  3. 3Mix besan with water to form a thick, lump-free paste.
  4. 4Add the besan paste to the pan, along with salt. Stir continuously.
  5. 5Cook on low heat, breaking lumps, until the mixture becomes dry, crumbly, and cooked.
  6. 6Cover and cook for 5 minutes for zunka to steam and become softer.
  7. 7Garnish with fresh coriander. Serve hot with bhakri.
