Thalipeeth recipe — authentic Maharashtra Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Thalipeeth bhajan (mixed flour - jowar, bajra, rice, wheat, besan)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Warm water for kneading

Instructions

  1. 1Combine Thalipeeth bhajan, chopped onion, green chilli, coriander, cumin powder, turmeric, sesame seeds, and salt in a bowl.
  2. 2Gradually add warm water and knead into a soft, pliable dough.
  3. 3Divide the dough into equal portions and flatten each on a greased banana leaf or parchment paper.
  4. 4Make a small hole in the center of each thalipeeth for even cooking.
  5. 5Heat a griddle (tava) and drizzle oil. Carefully transfer the thalipeeth onto the hot griddle.
  6. 6Cook on medium heat, adding more oil around the edges and into the hole, until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
  7. 7Serve hot with curd, pickle, or green chutney.
