Masala Bhaat recipe — authentic Maharashtra Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Basmati or Ambemohar rice
  • 1 medium potato, diced
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Goda Masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. 1Wash rice and soak for 15 minutes, then drain.
  2. 2Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  3. 3Add chopped onion and sauté until golden. Add diced potato and peas, sauté for 5 minutes.
  4. 4Stir in turmeric powder and Goda Masala. Add the drained rice, mix gently.
  5. 5Add hot water and salt, bring to a boil. Cover and cook on low heat until rice is done.
  6. 6Let it rest for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve hot.
