Fish Cutlet recipe — authentic Goa Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • 200g flaked cooked fish (mackerel or tuna)
  • 1 large boiled and mashed potato
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic-green chili paste
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • Goan spice blend (turmeric & garam masala)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1Combine flaked fish, mashed potato, chopped onion, ginger-garlic-green chili paste, coriander, Goan spice blend, and salt in a bowl.
  2. 2Mix well until a cohesive mixture forms.
  3. 3Divide the mixture into small portions and shape into flat, round or oval cutlets.
  4. 4Dip each cutlet into the beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  5. 5Heat oil in a deep pan to medium-high heat.
  6. 6Carefully fry the cutlets in batches until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  7. 7Remove with a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on paper towels.
  8. 8Serve hot with Goan tomato sauce or green chutney.
