Goan Fish Fry recipe — authentic Goa Indian dish from Masala Spin

Ingredients

  • 4 Kingfish or Mackerel steaks, 1-inch thick
  • 2 tbsp Goan red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp kokum juice or lime juice
  • 1/2 cup fine semolina (rawa)
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1Marinate fish steaks with red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, kokum juice, and salt for 20 minutes.
  2. 2Mix semolina and rice flour in a shallow plate.
  3. 3Heat coconut oil in a large flat pan over medium heat.
  4. 4Dredge each marinated fish steak evenly in the semolina-rice flour mixture.
  5. 5Gently place the coated fish steaks in the hot oil.
  6. 6Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through.
  7. 7Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels; serve immediately.
